Severs Disease

Severs disease is a common problem in active children up until the age of 15 years. Severs disease is a problem with the growth plate at the back of the heel. After 15 yrs this growth plate merges with the surrounding bone and is no longer a problem. The area of cartilage in the bone that growth occurs at is put under a lot of stress from the hard sports grounds and the Achilles tendon pulling on it. Some consider severs disease to be like a stress fracture of this cartilage growth zone. The
