Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain and is the most common musculoskeletal problem seen in the foot. It is a strain or degeneration of the plantar fascia which is a strong band that holds up the arch of the foot. The plantar fascia forms part of the windlass mechanism of the foot.

The main symptom of plantar fasciitis is pain at the bottom of the heel that is worse when getting out of bed in the morning.
