Sinus Tarsi Syndrome

Sinus tarsi syndrome is a problem of the ankle joint that causes pain on the outside of the joint. The sinus tarsi is a small tunnel between the talus and calcaneus bones in the rearfoot. Pain can occur when the structures inside this tunnel get compressed or stretched. The structures can get compressed in a flat or pronated foot and this can cause sinus tarsi syndrome.
