Cuboid Syndrome

The cuboid is small bone on the outside of the foot, between the calcaneus and the fifth metatarsal. This bone is so crucial for normal biomechanics as it acts as a pulley for the tendon of the peroneus longus muscle. The tendon wraps around the cuboid on its way to the medial plantar aspect of the foot. When the muscle contracts, the cuboid has to be stable.
